How the utilization of older software reflects our decisions as 3D animators
This is going to be the first of many. But rather quick because I want the video to be posted in the time this is written.
Welcome to the developer commentary of “The Glass Man”, or simply put how I refuse to use NEWER versions of Blender 3D Animation Software to pursue my creative interests.
Throughout the last few years, I’ve noticed that the majority of people have been switching to plugin based workflows utilizing the Blender 3D animation/modelling suite. While this is not a horrible approach, simply expecting newer based Blender versions to somehow suffice in effort workflows is simply a non-truth. A pain and a falsehood. It’s a big piece of humble pie when you realize that the majority of the newer Blender versions do not and will not work on modern operating systems (not mentioning the forked versions on GitHub) but rather the “idea” that the new version will solve the problems of the old versions or somehow enhance the interesting idea that many of it will be casted in under rowed vibrational diametric. It’s BS, and everyone knows it. Look at the following render and tell me, do you notice this was accomplished in Blender 2.7?

We’re not even getting into the Cyberdelia proportionality of the below image. The iconic movie Hackers portrays it the best, but referencing such doesn’t give the current situation of 3D generation, animation, and reasonable system design any merit. What you create shouldn’t really be referenced, it should rather be deployed on circumstances that you create and then generate accordingly to how it is formed within your own personal idea.
Me neither, and it’s foolish to assume that it should be accomplished in newer versions. It’s all bullshit, and shouldn’t be used as any effort. Sure, it’s fun to play around with new technologies like Stable Diffusion and create out worldly textures, but it’s even more fun when you are the master of your own version, and your own version becomes your personal toolkit.
Creating rigs in older versions also serves as a great example of how it can be utilized in your workflow. You don’t have to do stuff according to how someone else does it. Many new animators and designers do not realize that. What you create is your personal message to YOURSELF before anyone else.
